About Next in The JI

The Journal of Immunology publishes articles online ahead of print in a feature called "Next in The JI" at www.jimmunol.org. The articles incorporate author proof corrections but are not paginated and may be different in other respects from the final published version. The date of online release is posted on each article and is the official date of publication. Issues, both outline and in print, are released twice a month.

Articles are published online before print using a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) (e.g., doi:10.4049/jimmunol.0800861). When an article's scheduled issue is posted, that article is removed from the "Next in The JI" index and moved to the Table of Contents for that issue, and the page numbers are made available.

A sample citation for an article published in the "Next in The JI" feature is:

Dan Li, Lu Qian, Changguo Chen, Ming Shi, Ming Yu, Meiru Hu, Lun Song, Beifen Shen, and Ning Guo. 2009. Down-Regulation of MHC Class II Expression through Inhibition of CIITA Transcription by Lytic Transactivator Zta during Epstein-Barr Virus Reactivation. J. Immunol. doi:10.4049/jimmunol.0802686

Once papers appear in an issue in print and online, cite them as usual:

Dan Li, Lu Qian, Changguo Chen, Ming Shi, Ming Yu, Meiru Hu, Lun Song, Beifen Shen, and Ning Guo. 2009. Down-Regulation of MHC Class II Expression through Inhibition of CIITA Transcription by Lytic Transactivator Zta during Epstein-Barr Virus Reactivation. J. Immunol. 182: 1799-1809.

Digital Object Identifiers are unique identifiers for intellectual property in the digital environment (e.g., doi:10.4049/jimmunol.0800861). For detailed information on the DOI system visit www.doi.org

You may use the eTOC feature to set up an e-mail alert to notify you when new content is published.
