Abstract
Specific antisera to H chains of
G-,
A- and
M-immunoglobulins and to
and
light chains were used to quantitate the respective antigens by the sensitive complement fixation technique. Antigens were detectable and were quantitated in hypo-
-globulinemic fluids, eluates from sensitized red blood cells, saliva, tears and cerebrospinal fluids. Two peaks of complement fixation were obtained with some specimens of tears. It was suggested that this was due to the presence of both serum and secretory
A-immunoglobulins in tears. The quantitation of immunoglobulins and L-chains by complement fixation tests appears to be both sensitive and reproducible.
